- Q
Which is better: incisional or non-incisional hair transplantation?
AIncisional hair transplant does not require a haircut and has a slightly more reliable engraftment rate.
It has the advantage of being shorter duration and more affordable while the non-incisional method has the advantage of being less painful and leaving less scarring than the incisional method.
It's not that there's a better surgical method, it's more about what's right for you based on your condition.
- Q
How much does a hair transplant cost?
AEach hospital has a different style of surgery, surgery time, and equipment, resulting in price difference.
The price of a hair transplant can range from 3 million won on the low end to 10 million won on the high end.
In addition, the price varies depending on the incision, non-incision, and hair cutting method for non-incisional hair transplant. It also depends on the number of hair follicles to be used, so you should visit the hospital for a consultation for the exact cost.
- Q
Does hair transplant surgery hurt? How is the anesthesia administered?
AA local anesthetic will be administered to the transplant site and the collection area first.
In some cases, a light sedation is given before the local anesthesia is administered, so if you're worried about the pain of local anesthesia, don't be.
With local anesthesia only, you'll only feel a tingling sensation initially, and you won't feel any pain during the surgery.
- Q
What is the existing hair falling and shedding phase after a hair transplant, and when will it recover?
AExisting hair falling out is a phenomenon in which the existing hair is damaged and falls out after transplant, and the shedding phase is when the transplanted hair follicles fall out.
During the shedding phase, the transplanted hair will gradually fall out starting around 3 ~ 4 weeks after surgery, and new hair will start to grow on average at 6 months.
- Q
When can I start smoking and drinking after my hair transplant?
ALight alcohol consumption of one or two drinks is possible after two weeks, but be mindful for about a month.
After the transplant, blood vessels will grow into the transplanted hair follicles, and it will take 3~4 days for the blood vessels to grow.
Smoking during this time can cause the blood vessels to constrict, so you should refrain from smoking for 11 to 12 days after the transplant for engraftment.
- Q
Will my hair transplant interfere with my daily activity and exercise?
AAfter hair transplant surgery, it takes 11~12 days for engraftment.
During this period, the transplanted hair follicles are fused with the tissue and should not be disturbed by external stimuli.
After this period, you may return to exercise, but it is recommended that you remain cautious for at least two weeks with light walking or 50% of your usual exercise, as the wound in the epidermis from the transplant may not have healed depending on the individual. After a month, it's okay to exercise up to 100% of your usual exercise, but you should avoid it until the 11th or 12th day from the surgery, as this is when the engraftment takes place.
- Q
Will my transplanted hair fall out? Will I lose my hair again?
AIt is not common. Hair goes through the generating phase-> growing phase -> degenerate-resting phase about 25 times.
If you go through all of these processes, your hair will no longer grow. Therefore, if the hair follicle is damaged during the surgery, or if the number of available hair cycles is reduced, the transplanted hair may fall out.
If you are concerned that your hair loss may have continued to progress after your transplant, you must keep in mind that post-transplant care is important.
You can maintain satisfactory results for a long time if you continue to assess and prevent hair loss.
- Q
What if my hair transplant results are not good?
AWhile we strive for a high engraftment rate during hair transplant surgery, it is not always possible to achieve 100% engraftment due to individual characteristics and other factors.
Therefore, if the engraftment rate is low after the surgery, a supplemental surgery can help you achieve a more satisfactory hair transplant result.
- Q
Do I have to wait a year to have a hair transplant reoperation?
ABecause the process of growing hair after a transplant can take up to 12 months, it's best to wait until you see the final results to pinpoint any issues before thinking about reoperation.
However, if you are considering a hair transplant reoperation before 12 months have passed, we recommend waiting at least 9 months.
- Q
Which is better incisional or non-incisional hair transplant reoperation?
AHair transplant revision surgery can be either incisional or non-incisional, but if your primary surgery was incisional, you should check your occipital elasticity.
If you have poor occipital elasticity, we recommend non-incisional surgery.
